Consensys, the company behind the Metamask digital wallet opens the doors of its testnet to the public on March 28 named “linea“.
Today we are going to introduce you to the project linea formerly named ConsenSys ZkEVM. The launch of the test phase took place in January, Consensys opened its testnet to more than 150,000 developers in preview.
Find in this article a complete guide to follow to be eligible for a potential Airdrop of the zkEVM Linea.
Some key facts about Airdrop Linea
- Project: Linea
- Costs: Free (testnet)
- Tokens: ?
- Airdrop: Unconfirmed
- Difficulty: Intermediate
What is Linea?
linea is one of many solutions zkEVM emerging companies seeking to couple compatibility Ethereum with the safety and performance of zero-knowledge proofs. The testnet launched in closed beta in January with over 1.5 million transactions in the first week of launch.
Consensys stated that it will be possible to easily access the dApps deployed on linea directly through the Metamask digital wallet. Linea also offers native integrations with the Consensys infrastructure and is said to offer tools for developers.
The project has raised $725 million from Tier 1 funds and giants such as Microsoft, Temasek, Softbank carrying his $7 billion valuation.
How to be eligible for Linea Airdrop
First, you will need configure your wallet Metamask to start interacting with the Linea testnet.
To add the Linea network, go to the website chainlist.org without forgetting to check the box “include testnet”, search for “Linea Testnet” in the search bar

To finish adding the network, you must now connect your wallet by clicking on “Connect wallet”, then approve the signature that will be requested on your Metamask wallet.
You will also need the network”Goerly” to send funds to the Linea testnet if you haven’t added it to your portfolio yet, repeat the same manipulation by searching for “Goerli” in the search bar. To get tokens ETH on the Goerli testnet, go to a faucet to claim some for free, here are some ETH faucet available: https://goerlifaucet.com / https://faucets.chain.link / https://coinbase.com/faucets.
To have our ETH on Linea, we will need a bridge to transfer them from Goerli to Linea. We will therefore use the “Hop” bridge which is available on this link: https://goerli.hop.exchange/#/send?token=ETH.
In order to to use the bridgestart by connecting your wallet by clicking on “Connect a Wallet”, if you are not on the Goerli network, a notification to change network will appear on your wallet, simply accept it to change network.
Select the ETH token in the “Send” category, then in the “From” box you will need to select Goerli, then enter the amount of ETH to bridge on the right. For the “To” part This is the network linea which interests us. To finish, click on “Approve” at the bottom left, validate the transaction on your wallet, then finally click on “Send” and validate this last transaction. You will receive your ETH on Linea once the transaction is complete.

Once these manipulations are complete, your wallet is ready to begin the first interactions on the Linea testnet.
1 – Use Uniswap on Linea
The first interaction to perform is to swap on this site: https://swap.goerli.linea.build/#/swap
Connect your wallet by clicking on “Relate“. Select ETH in token to exchange and the amount, against $crWETH. Click on “Authorize the Uniswap protocol to use your ETH” then validate the transaction on your wallet. You can then click on swap and validate the transaction to finalize this step.

You can also swap of crWETH against crUSDCdo not hesitate to make several transactions to potentially increase your chances of being qualified for a potential airdrop.
It is also possible to interact with the liquidity pools, to do this click on the “Pool“, Then “+ New location”

Then select the pair ETH crUSDCenter an amount, then approve the tokens and complete the requested transactions.

2 – Create a Liquidity Pool on Hop
For this step, we are back on the Hop platform previously used for the bridge which will now be used to create an LP (Liquidity Pool) on the blockchain linea. Go to the site and connect your wallet again: https://goerli.hop.exchange/.
In order to obtain LP tokens, you will need to obtain hETH. To do this, you will have to go to the “Convert“. Select Linea, ETH then “Via MA“. Enter an amount in the “From“, click on “Approve“, validate the transaction, then click on Convert and accept the last transaction which will allow you to obtain your hETH.

Once your hETH received you can now add liquidity in the LP, to do this select the tab “Pool“, then click “Add Liquidity“on the Pool”ETH Linea Pool“.

Then enter the amount of WETH and hETH you want, then click on “Preview“, “deposit” and you will only have to validate the transactions to approve the tokens, and confirm the transaction.

3 – Interact with Ghostchain
Ghostchain is a marketplace NFT already present on Linea. For the first interaction go to the site and connect your digital wallet to the site and select the Linea network.

Choose an NFT collection, then click “Disperse Collection“, enter an amount in ETH, then click on disperse and validate the transaction on your wallet.

An NFT is also to be retrieved on the platform thanks to this link.
Connect your wallet, choose the network on Linea then simply click on “Claim FREE gNFT NOW” and validate the transaction.

For the moment, these are the only interactions to be made on the platform, remember to keep yourself informed of potential updates.
4 – Deploy a smart contract and an NFT
As you will have understood, the goal is to make the most interaction available on the testnet, which is why we are going to deploy a smart contract and an NFT in order to maximize our chances of obtaining this potential airdrop.
1 – Deploy a smart contract
To deploy our smart contract, we will have to go to This site. Once on the site, select ERC20. Choose a name and symbol for your token, enter an amount in the “Premint” box and check the “Mintable” box. Once these steps are complete, click on “Open in Remix”.

To get started, click on the “Compile Contract” button

After the compilation is complete, go to the “Deploy & Run Transactions” category, in the “Environment” box select “Injected Provider Metamask” then click on the “Deploy” button

To finish with the smart contract, we will mint our own token. Click on your contract in the “Deployed Contracts” category, select your contract, click on “Transfer”, write the address of your wallet in the “To” box, then the amount of your choice in the “Amount” box. All you have to do is click on the “Transact” button and validate the transaction.

2 – Deploy a NFT
For the NFT, back to the first site.
This time, select “ERC721”, again choose a name and symbol for your NFT token, check the “Mintable” box. Once these parameters are done, click on “Open in Remix”.

Once, on Remix, repeat the same steps as for the smart contract (compile and deploy your smart contract). Once the manipulations have been repeated, select your contract in “Deployed Contract”, then in the “Safe Mint” box fill in the address of your wallet, and a number of NFTs. To finish this step, click on “Transact” then confirm the transaction.

5 – Claim the “Commemorative testnet NFT”
For the launch of linea, Consensys announced the release of a commemorative NFT. This step takes place on the network Optimismit is therefore necessary to provide some funds to pay the costs of gas.
To claim this NFT, click on “Collect”, connect your wallet, enter your email address, click on mint then validate the transaction to receive your NFT.

Nothing has yet been communicated on the usefulness of this NFT, but it could represent a condition of a potential airdrop much like the airdrop Aptos.
Important details:
It is possible that new dApps will arrive on the Linea testnet, so it is advisable to monitor the ecosystem closely in order to test as many things as possible to maximize your chances of being qualified for this potential airdrop. You can also repeat the operations several times to potentially increase your allocation in the event of an airdrop.
