It is one of the most famous wine routes in France. Covering 170 km, the Alsace Wine Route celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.
From Marlenheim to Thann, it crosses a hundred municipalities made up of vineyards and very pretty flower-filled villages in a region rich in a long history and a singular way of life: half-timbered houses, ramparts, castles, old churches… and winstubs, these dapper inns dedicated to wine. It is also the birthplace of 7 grape varieties and around fifty essential Grands Crus. It can be explored by car, train, on foot and by bike using the vineyard cycle route, on the route of EuroVelo 5 “Via Romea Francigena”.
In 2023, the Alsace Wine Route will be punctuated by 70 new events and activities throughout the year. The festivities will give pride of place to experiences, encounters and discoveries. Among the major events: the Tournée des Terroirs “Alsace Rocks” in the heart of the vineyard, the Grands Banquets in the wine-growing towns, parades of brotherhoods, unusual dinners, auctions, artist exhibitions, gourmet walks and other escape games.
