For great evils, small remedies! The Austrian village of Hallstatt, one of the most photogenic in the Alps, even in Europe, has installed a wooden barrier to obstruct the panorama from its most beautiful point of view, according to AFP.
The goal? Discourage the countless selfie lovers who come to photograph themselves there against the backdrop of a lake with blue waters and an idyllic village at the foot of the mountains.
It must be said that Hallstatt, which inspired the village of Snow Queen by Disney as well as a carbon copy in China, attracts crowds from all over the world, receiving up to one million visitors a year. Some, persuaded to visit an open-air museum, do not hesitate to enter the homes of the villagers to use their toilets!
While tourism is picking up again, the municipality has taken this measure to restore some peace to the inhabitants of Hallstatt, whose site is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
However, it is temporary: the duration of the installation of the barrier will depend on the reactions of tourists and residents.
