A century ! Perched high in the Santa Monica Mountains, the iconic letters of the Hollywood Sign have towered over the City of Angels for 100 years. They are now THE symbol of Los Angeles but also of American cinema.
It was indeed on December 8, 1923 that 4,000 light bulbs illuminated for the first time the white letters of the “Hollywoodland” sign, which was in fact an advertisement for a high-end real estate development. Over the years and 4 letters less later, he began to designate the district of LA where the heart of the dream factory is located.
In late 2022, the Hollywood Sign Trust, a nonprofit created to protect and preserve the monument, partnered with Sherwin-Williams for a complete renovation of the Hollywood Sign in preparation for the celebrations. Enough to give a new youth to this dashing centenarian!
